3 Ways to Tell If Your Bazaar Was Worth It

3 Ways to Tell If Your Bazaar Was Worth It | EasyStore

Suppose your team closes Saturday at RM42,000 and Sunday at RM47,000. The organiser has offered you the same spot next month, but another event is competing for the same stock and team. Which booking earns its place on your calendar?

The RM89,000 weekend total gives you a starting point. To compare the two opportunities, look at what the event earned after costs, what first-time buyers came for and whether they bought again in the following month.

1. How much profit did the weekend actually earn?

Start with net sales after discounts and refunds. Subtract the cost of the items you sold. Then deduct what it cost to run the event: booth rental, staff time, transport, setup and transaction fees. Stock that goes back to your store unsold still belongs in inventory.

Here’s how the two-day event looks in the closing ledger.

Worked example: RM89,000 in net sales less RM48,680 in product costs and RM24,000 in event spend leaves RM16,320 profit. ROI on event spend is 68%.

2. What did new customers buy, and how much did they spend?

Open the customer list in EasyStore and filter for customers added this year. You can see who’s new, what they bought and their average order value (AOV).

For a bazaar recap, focus on shoppers whose first purchase was at that pop-up over the event dates. A regular from another outlet still counts towards the weekend’s sales, but the bazaar didn’t acquire that customer.

Suppose 480 new customers each placed one order at the bazaar, totalling RM57,600. Their AOV was RM120. Look at what went into those baskets: if discovery sets were a popular first purchase, check whether those buyers came back for the full-size product.

💡 Give new shoppers a reason to stay in touch.

After a shopper makes their first purchase, thank them and ask, “Would you like to join our membership programme? I can sign you up with your mobile number.” That one question gives you a way to stay in touch after the bazaar and invite them back for their next purchase.

3. Did those buyers come back after the bazaar?

Two bazaars can earn the same weekend sales. If shoppers from one return for full-size products after trying a discovery set, those later purchases can make that venue worth rebooking.

In this example, 60 of 480 first-time buyers returned within 30 days: a 12.5% repeat purchase rate. Compare similar products over the same buying cycle. If 8% returned after your last comparable bazaar, 12.5% is encouraging. If 18% usually return, it’s below your benchmark.

Alex Lee’s example customer profile. The Campus Bazaar first purchase on 21 November is followed by an Online Store order on 1 December, ten days later.

💡 Give shoppers a reason to come back

Use EasyStore Broadcast Center to stay in touch after the bazaar. Invite discovery set buyers to try the full-size range, share new arrivals with shoppers who bought from that collection, or let members know which benefits they can redeem on member day.

The same bazaar, with and without repeat purchases

Both columns below start with the same weekend and the same RM16,320 event profit. The only difference is what you observe over the next 30 days. These are illustrative figures, not merchant results.

The repeat orders added RM5,730 in profit: RM12,600 in net sales less RM5,670 in product costs and RM1,200 in follow-up and fulfilment. The updated ROI is RM22,050 ÷ RM25,200, or 87.5%. If you spent the RM1,200 on follow-up and nobody reordered, count that cost too.

Before you book again, ask what you would change. If discovery sets brought in new buyers who later returned for full-size products, use that insight when choosing stock for the next bazaar. If those customers came back but the booth rent took too much of the margin, bring the numbers into your next venue negotiation.

Planning your next bazaar? Use EasyStore POS

EasyStore POS displayed on desktop, tablet, mobile and handheld checkout devices.

  • Bring a device you already own. Run EasyStore POS on a phone, tablet or laptop without buying a dedicated till.
  • Offer familiar ways to pay. Accept QR payments, Visa, Mastercard and buy now, pay later (BNPL), depending on your payment setup.
  • Give each pop-up its own location. Allocate stock to each event so the team can tell it apart from stock at other pop-ups or in your online store.
  • Keep stock up to date as you sell. Each sale updates inventory for that location, saving the team from entering sales again after closing.
  • Welcome new customers by mobile number. Register a first-time shopper at checkout and ask whether they’d like to hear from you again.
  • Check live sales from the EasyStore app. See how each pop-up is selling while the team serves customers.
  • Bring shoppers back after the bazaar. Send opted-in buyers a link to a product they might like in your online store, or invite them to your next pop-up with the date and location.
