A Turning Point — An Unusual Request

Recently honored with the BabyTalk PapaMama Readers’ Choice Award 2019, Woodiepie’s journey didn’t start with breastmilk jewelry. 

Initially, the sisters crafted handmade soaps with wooden flakes. But their business took a new direction after a unique request from a husband — he wanted a soap made from his wife’s breast milk.

That heartfelt order sparked an idea: could they create something longer-lasting than soap? 

After extensive online research, countless tests, and help from Heidi’s husband, who works in construction, the sisters began experimenting with materials to preserve breast milk in the form of jewelry.

Overcoming Obstacles

It took over a year of trial and error to formulate their unique breastmilk jewelry. In 2016, they officially launched it to the public. Yet, the journey was far from easy — especially in a market unfamiliar with the concept.

Heidi shared that, to her surprise, more and more husbands began purchasing the jewelry as heartfelt gifts for their wives, recognizing the effort and sacrifices of breastfeeding mothers. This growing support motivated the sisters to push forward, despite the challenges.

Without guidance in this niche industry, they relied on marketing creativity. They built brand authenticity through educational YouTube videos comparing DIY breastmilk stones to their professional-grade creations, embracing a learn-as-you-go approach to build credibility.

Challenges of Growth

Every piece of breastmilk jewelry is custom-made — no two can be mixed, making order management crucial. Initially, orders came through Facebook inbox messages, which led to frequent manual errors.

At one point, they attempted to upload over 500 jewelry designs to their Facebook page, only to be met with system overload and failed uploads.

To streamline their growing business, the sisters transitioned to EasyStore. Despite having no IT background, they found it surprisingly simple to build a professional-looking storefront.
