Empowering Halal SMEs in Pahang to Grow Through Ecommerce
Malaysia’s halal industry continues to grow, and collaboration between government agencies and industry experts is key to helping local businesses increase their halal exports.
Jelajah Halal Malaysia (JHM) Pahang was created to drive and encourage more entrepreneurs in the state to participate in the halal industry.
As part of the Halal Integrated Platform ecosystem, EasyStore joined JHM as an ecommerce solutions partner.
Through this initiative, we conducted workshops aimed at helping entrepreneurs understand how ecommerce can scale their business.
Our workshop brought together over 50 entrepreneurs from across Pahang.
While many were already aware of ecommerce's potential, the session helped deepen their understanding and gave them the practical tools to build and manage their own ecommerce website.
Standing Out in a Competitive Market
Today’s businesses aren’t just competing locally—they’re facing competition nationwide and even globally.
To be recognized, businesses need to position themselves as experts in a specific niche or market segment.
Being an “expert” doesn’t mean having formal qualifications or certifications.
It means clearly identifying your target audience and consistently creating relevant content that speaks directly to their needs and problems.
When your content is targeted and valuable, your audience will view your business as a credible source in that segment, setting you apart from your competitors.
Why an Ecommerce Website Matters
An ecommerce website allows businesses to sell products or services online by processing orders, accepting payments, managing shipping, and handling customer service all in one place.
We strongly believe that serious ecommerce businesses need their own website. Here’s why:
Be discoverable on Google
Build credibility and trust
Sell 24/7, even outside working hours
Secure and automated online payment systems
From the workshop, we learned that most participants did not yet have an ecommerce website. Many said they understood the importance but assumed it would be costly or too complicated to build one on their own.
How Businesses Can Create an Ecommerce Website for Free
With EasyStore, businesses can set up an ecommerce website for free—no coding or hiring professionals required.
During the workshop, participants received a hands-on tutorial, guided by EasyStore staff.
Using just a mobile phone or laptop, they signed up and began building their online store. EasyStore’s platform is designed to be user-friendly and mobile-optimized, ensuring a smooth setup process.
We walked participants through the essential steps:
Signing up
Uploading products
Customizing store themes
Setting up shipping and payment methods
One participant, Sarimah, shared her experience:
“I thought having my own website would be expensive as I’d need to pay an expert. After this session, I realized it’s very easy to create one with EasyStore. This is very helpful for me.”
With their own ecommerce website, these businesses can now boost their brand presence, gain customer trust, and reach a broader audience.
