By June Sim · 9th December, 2015
This was the 3rd time Jan-Hung Tze's E-Commerce course was held in Malaysia since 2014.
Jan-Hung Tze is the Chairman of PC Home, the largest marketplace in Taiwan and President of Taiwan Internet & E-Commerce Association (TIEA). He is the learning model of E-Commerce for all the E-Commerce Players in Malaysia, so this was a must attend lesson for every seller.
It’s my honour to participate in this insightful activity and learn the E-Commerce latest trends from Mr.Jan. Thanks to Exabytes for sponsoring this event and the opportunity offered to us. Thus, I would like to share with our community in Malaysia.
Lesson #1
Mobile friendly is the key success in the future E-Commerce
Malaysia is in the mobile first region country (Ranked by Google), means that more than 50% of online user are using Mobile device to go online instead of PC devices. Mobile friendly is the key success in the future of E-Commerce. Malaysia may skip some process and directly to go for Mobile Web instead of PC Web.
Is App a must for sellers?
The answer is NO . Don’t simply create an app for your online business. There are millions of apps in Asia, it’s hard to keep an app in your user’s mobile devices (because of limited usage), and also “download” is a huge barrier for the user, it will help you filter out the quality leads.
Unless your app is only to target loyal customer, then it would be great.
Is it too late to join E-Commerce?
“It’s never too late to start, but you must start your online business as soon as possible and no more waiting ”- quoted by Mr.Jan.
In future,
it will grow up to
15? 25%? 50%?
Lesson #2
When everything is mobilised, Social is more important than Search.
Mobilisation is not friendly with the whole behaviour of search, and also Information seeking is not the first / big issue for users anymore. However, the accuracy of the information is the main challenge for us at this moment. Social media is now becoming the first platform for users to seek information.
Example: Most people will receive information from social platform (Facebook , Instagram..etc) before they search the related information in search engine (Google).
Next : Distributor or carry own brand E-commerce?
