Top E-commerce Mobile Shopping Apps and Websites in Singapore: Q1 2019 Insights
Singapore has one of the highest smartphone penetration rates globally, and with that, the popularity of mobile shopping apps continues to rise.
As online shopping becomes increasingly essential, the convenience of mobile e-commerce platforms is shaping consumer habits.
In fact, a report revealed that Singaporeans downloaded 245.4 million apps in 2018, spending approximately US$399.3 million on apps alone.
While mobile apps play a significant role, a large segment of Singaporeans still prefers browsing and making purchases via desktop — a finding supported by our previous State of E-commerce study.
About the Study
We conducted a study with App Annie Intelligence to identify the most actively used mobile e-commerce shopping apps in Southeast Asia during Q1 2019.
The data combined monthly active users across iPhone and Android devices in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
We also analyzed the top e-commerce platforms based on desktop and mobile web visits using data from SimilarWeb.
This review covered platforms ranked among the top 50 most visited in Singapore.
Most Actively Used E-commerce Mobile Apps in Singapore
1. Lazada
Lazada remains a market leader, boosted by key campaigns like its annual anniversary sale (21–27 March 2019), culminating in a 24-hour shopping event on March 27.
On average, shoppers logged in up to six times daily during campaigns to participate in in-app games and watch live-streamed performances.
A major milestone was the integration of RedMart into Lazada's app and site on 15 March 2019, giving customers access to over 400,000 products under a single platform.
Lazada also rolled out promotions for Chinese New Year 2019, offering 888 flash deals, up to 88% discounts, and $88 vouchers — capitalizing on festive shopping demand.
Key upgrades, including enhanced order management features and delivery slot options, were scheduled to roll out by mid-2019.
2. Qoo10
As a long-standing e-commerce player in Singapore, Qoo10 secured the second-highest monthly active users in Q1 2019.
A notable boost came from its GrabPay partnership, providing consumers with more flexible payment options for rides, food, and online purchases.
CEO Ku Young Bae expressed optimism about Qoo10’s future, highlighting opportunities in expanding its product selection, cross-border merchants, domestic vendor base, and pricing strategies.
3. Shopee
Shopee emerged as one of Singapore’s fastest-growing e-commerce apps, ranking third in active users but second in overall mobile app rankings.
Founded in 2015 as a mobile-first platform, Shopee’s hyper-localised approach — with separate apps for each country — proved effective.
In March 2019, parent company Sea announced plans to raise US$1.5 billion to accelerate Shopee’s regional growth.
Shopee was also the most visited e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia for Q1 2019, with 184.4 million visits across desktop and mobile — a 5% increase from Q4 2018.
4. Taobao
Taobao ranked fourth in Singapore and performed well in regions with higher Mandarin-speaking populations like Singapore and Malaysia.
Singaporeans favor Taobao for its competitive prices, unique products, and reliable delivery services to Singapore.
Additionally, customers can access Taobao through agents like EZBuy, SGShop, Peeka, and Oops.
Lazada’s growing cross-border logistics also makes it feasible to purchase Taobao products via Lazada in Singapore.
Most Visited E-commerce Websites in Singapore & Southeast Asia
On desktop and mobile web:
Qoo10 led with 7.9 million visits in Singapore in Q1 2019.

Across Southeast Asia, Shopee topped the list with 184.8 million visits — making it the region’s most visited e-commerce platform.
