 Debbie opens up about the struggles, sacrifices, and breakthroughs that shaped their brand.

From Straight-A Student to Risk Taker

At 17, Debbie was a high-achieving student still searching for her true calling. 

Unsure of what she wanted, she took on various part-time jobs to gain experience while figuring things out.

Everything changed when she met Joseph — now her husband and business partner — who proposed an audacious idea: to build Malaysia’s No.1 peanut butter brand.

Neither of them had business experience, financial security, connections, nor culinary skills. 

Competing against established brands seemed impossible, but they were determined to give it everything they had.

For Debbie, it was a chance to take risks while she was young, with room for setbacks and lessons. 

She embraced the unknown, believing that failure was just part of the process.

Breaking Free From Expectations

“Get good grades, land a secure job, marry well, and settle down.”

Like many Asian parents, Debbie’s parents envisioned this path for her.

She followed that track until a life-changing question crossed her mind: “What do I really want?”

That question pushed her to break free from being the “obedient daughter” and step outside her comfort zone. 

The real world, filled with ups and downs, taught her more than she ever expected. 

Though failures shook her confidence, Debbie never lost sight of why she started.

The road wasn’t easy. A devastating car accident left Joseph almost unable to walk, and their only delivery vehicle was totaled. 

Medical bills and outstanding debts piled up, pushing them to the brink.

At their lowest point, thoughts of turning to loan sharks crossed their minds. 

But despite the financial pressure, they knew it would be a dangerous, irreversible decision — one they’re now grateful they avoided.

They pulled through, learning resilience the hard way.

Creating a product is easy. Building a trustworthy brand is the real challenge.

Debbie believed that a good brand isn’t just about selling — it’s about making people feel better and bringing meaning to their lives. 

Despite setbacks and lukewarm responses to new product launches, they stuck to their principles: no artificial additives, no shortcuts.
