A mother, inspired by her firstborn, took a bold step into the world of e-commerce without any prior business experience — choosing to skip the traditional brick-and-mortar setup.
In this article, we follow her story of how she turned her idea into a thriving online brand.
Going Left When Everyone Goes Right
Unlike most, my business journey began after the birth of my first child. As a first-time parent, I became deeply immersed in everything baby-related.
Instead of just buying adorable baby clothes, I decided to sell them online — helping other parents find affordable, quality apparel for their little ones. I sourced products from both overseas and trusted local retailers, always ensuring the items met my own high standards as a mother.
For parents, every product detail matters. Before making a purchase online, we scrutinize the information provided. This attention to detail became one of the guiding principles of my online business.
Since launching my baby clothing brand in 2018, I’ve been selling baby clothes and accessories — from dresses to shoes — items I would proudly dress my own baby in.

I run my online business part-time, during my free hours. By day, I work in the Quality Control department of a company, while evenings and weekends are spent managing my e-commerce store. Without the overhead costs of a physical store, I was able to test the market and gradually grow.
Learning Through Self-Education
I entered this venture with zero business background. But as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining.
The internet became my greatest resource. I never enrolled in formal business courses; instead, I learned from the experiences and insights shared by others online.
This self-education taught me how to navigate the challenges of running an e-commerce business.

Relying solely on marketplaces like Lazada and Shopee posed a challenge — it’s difficult to drive consistent traffic to your product pages on third-party platforms.
That’s why I built my own website.
